This banning is incorrect. The guy was just creating a page for a guild.

The abuse filter does seem to be a bit overzealous; is there any way to tone it back a bit? I think it'd be better to deal with a little extra vandalism than have it banning legitimate contributors. -- 74.34.61.230 06:04, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
Guild pages go in the guild namespace, as the instructions at the top of every page indicate. You put a guild page in mainspace, the abuse filter considers it spam. -- Wynthyst File:User Wynthyst sig icon.png talk 15:33, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
That's not spam, though. Blocking the person who makes such a mistake is rather extreme. They aren't trying to vandalize the project, they're actually attempting to add valid articles. Some people just don't understand what the site notice means, or simply forget to add the prefix. That's no reason to block them. It is a practice that could easily generate negative perceptions of this project, among entire guilds and their allied communities. This is especially true when there is no formal guild policy on this project for editors to refer to.
The benefit of such blocks are minimal, at best, while the potential issues and negative opinions that can result from them are very real. In an environment with multiple alternatives to this project available, we don't need to risk alienating ourselves with the general game community in this way. It's self-destructive. -- 74.34.61.230 17:10, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
