The Misfits is a Star Wars: The Old Republic guild.
About the Guild
Greetings and salutations! If you were directed to this page, you are either interested in learning more or are in the process of becoming an official member of the Misfits. Here are links where you will find information, guidelines, rules and other misc. packets that you will need to be successful in the game and with our guild.
A brief history...
The Misfits was started in Star Wars Galaxies by our favorite Bothan leader Riboflavin (now Raspado), who wanted a guild that was free from drama and chaos but still fun and relaxed. It consisted of veteran friends from previous guilds and slowly expanded to include new players to SWG. We set up shop at the base of Mount Challot on Lok, and our first city, Sion's Keep, was born. After several months of hard work, our city grew large enough for a shuttle, and several events were held in the city in which all members of our server, Eclipse, were invited. The Misfits grew in prominence among other members of our community due to our respect, willingness to help, and desire to participate in various activities, including PvP events, heroics, and more.
As our prominence as a strong guild grew, our members began to disappear. Real life called many members away from the game, while other members decided to transfer to more active servers. Misfits slowly dwindled to a very small active member base. It was time for Misfits to think of setting shop in a new game environment.
Despite having only a few active member continuing on to The Old Republic, we've decided to rebuild Misfits while still holding to our values. Our motto was and continues to be: Help each other, defend our name, and have fun!
Where are we now?...
Today the Misfits are still a small, close-knit guild. Unlike in SWG, we are now a Republic-only guild. We figured it was time to switch sides to help get that "fresh start" feel. Most of our players are from the US of A, although we don't decline applications based on location. We accept people from all over the world - as long as you can agree to play by our rules. And while we would like to eventually touch on just about every aspect the game offers, we will be a predominantly PvE guild focused on exploring, getting through quests and tough missions together, and crafting.
The pillars of strength that founded our guild still hold true, and they are:*A close, family-type environment.
- Putting guild members first when it comes to helping each other in ALL situations.
- Having a fun and drama free zone which we can rely upon to be a relaxing, intriguing and stimulating place of conversation, friendship, and camaraderie.
Like most other SWTOR guilds, we're anxiously anticipating the release date of the game! To keep from going mad, we've gotten to know each other and kept in touch via our forums and Vent, so take a peek at what madness has been taking place on the site!
What do we look for in a member?
If you are looking for guild that expects to play 50+ hours per week, PvP on a regular basis, have at least 10+ people on at any given moment, and/or set up daily raids, we are NOT the guild for you.
Misfits recruits any casual gamer looking for a good time and a relaxed environment with a sense of close-knit community. We ask for mature members - not just by age but also by how one acts. A mature 15 year old is a far better guild member than an immature 40 year old. As we are a casual guild whose members lead busy lives, we understand that real life comes first and so do not force our members to participate in events.
We do not condone the forming of cliques, nor do we appreciate members ignoring other members. Therefore, when you join us, you agree to be equal upon all guild members, and agree that you will never find yourself in the midst of forming cliques within the guild.
What to expect as a member...
The Misfits is not a dictatorship in any way, sense, or form. Yes there is a chain of command, but we are here essentially to keep things running smoothly for our members. We deal with issues when they get out of hand, or when they threaten our guild and its members, and make final decisions based on the best interest of the members. When it comes to decision-making, from recruiting to disbanding, all members have an equal say. All opinions will be equally weighed before the guild leaders announce a final decision - usually (99.9% of the time) coinciding with the members' suggested course of action.
How to Become a Misfit...
To become a full-fledged Misfit, you must first contact one of the members that hold an officer position, who will interrogate you with painful whips and poisonous sarlacc teeth... :) In all seriousness, just complete the application form found here. Once your application is submitted, it will be posted in the "Reception Room" with your username as the thread title, and you will be given the tag of "Hopeful" to distinguish you from other members.
All registered users can see and comment on any of the applications for up to three days. Hopefuls are asked to keep tabs on their threads and respond to any questions raised by other members. Polls may be applied for Misfits to decide whether or not to accept each Hopeful into the guild.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this section of the forum, please address them in this thread. We'll get back to you with an answer as quickly as possible.
Thanks for stopping by. We hope to see you around!
