The Esseles is an early-game Republic Flashpoint. The flashpoint is available soon after leaving the starting world. The Flashpoint occurs during a trip to Coruscant.

Description

The Esseles, a Republic transport that routinely carries civilians to and from the Republic capital world of Coruscant, has come under assault. Attacked by a powerful Imperial warship under the command of a ruthless Moff, the outgunned and outnumbered crew of the Esseles ready themselves to fight against the coming Imperials.

Having booked passage on the transport to Coruscant, champions of the Republic now find themselves thrust into this dire situation. Taking up arms, they must now band together to battle back the Imperial boarding parties, defend the passengers and crew of the Esseles and free the transport from the Imperial warship.

The Esseles is available to Republic players who designed to be experienced in team combat after leaving the starter planets of Ord Mantell and Tython

Background

The decision to enter the Flashpoint happens before the actual trip to Coruscant. The group is given the choice of which shuttle to take: the fast and luxurious shuttle or the normal small shuttle. The quest to enter the flashpoint is given only if the fast shuttle right outside the coruscant departures elevator is boarded by the republic heroes.

Missions

Talk to the Esseles Passenger

A preperation period is given in which the group gets a chance to repair items or buy items such as medpacks that may be used in the mission before completing this task.

Get to the Bridge

The Republic heroes have to fight through the Imperials on board to get to the bridge and meet First Officer Haken.

Talk to First Officer Haken

When they arrive at the bridge, they find that the captain has been killed during the space battle and that the first officer, Haken, is panicking. The group talks to Haken for a few moments before Grand Moff Kilran hails. He tells the group that Imperial agents are coming aboard to take prisoner Ambassador Asara, as she is an alleged anti-Imperial terrorist.

Go Down to the Primary Airlock

The Republic heroes then have to fight through Imperials to reach the primary airlock.

Talk to Commander Narlock

Once the group has reached the primary airlock, they will talk to Commander Narlock who has brought 3 security guards to help. They will then take positions around the airlock.

Defeat Lieutenant Isric

A Sith Lieutenant, Isric, will lead the boarding party. He will be initially accompanied by two Imperial boarding droids. Soon after the battle starts, two Sith Troopers will join him. After Isric has been killed, Ambassador Asara will reveal herself. She will fill the heroes and Commander Narlock in. It is revealed that a bounty hunter, named Ironfist, had boarded the ship while the heroes were preoccupied with Isric. It is further revealed that Ironfist has put the bridge in lockdown. Commander Narlock tells the group that Chief Engineer Salen might be able to work around the security system. Asara goes with Narlock and the remaining security officers to create a diversion.

Find Chief Engineer Salen

The heroes then proceed through the ship, killing any Imperials they find along the way, until they reach engineering. Here they talk with Salen (through a ray shield) about how to get access to the bridge. Asara then catches up with the heroes. The resulting two options are either to reset the reactor, which would cause the engineering section to vent into space and kill the engineering team, or to go throughout the ship and shut down the secondary conduits.

Darkside +150 – for killing the engineers

Lightside +150 – for allowing the engineers to live

Opening the Bridge

The flashpoint takes a slightly different path depending on the Light Side or Dark Side choice made.

[Light Side] Shut Down Secondary Conduits

The heroes must fight their way around the Engineering deck, defeating any Imperial troups in order to reach four computer terminals. Returning to Salen continues the flashpoint.

[Dark Side] Resetting the Reactor

The reactor is reset and the engineering section is vented, causing the death of the engineers. The flashpoint continues automatically.

Get Back to the Bridge

The Heroes must then fight their way back to the Bridge to confront Ironfist.

Override Bridge's Auxiliary Power

All remaining power to the bridge has to be shutoff, so that the ray shield protecting the bridge's entrance will drop. The terminal controlling the auxiliary power is right outside the bridge. The heroes will then enter the bridge to confront Ironfist.

Defeat Ironfist

The heroes, after talking with Ironfist for only a few seconds, will have to fight him. He will be immediately assisted by two Imperial Troopers, and two more will appear later during the fight. Ironfist uses his jetpack to knockback the heroes as well as using an invincibility shield for a short while.

Talk to First Officer Haken

After Ironfist has been killed, the players will then have to talk to First Office Haken again.

Board the Battlecruiser

In order for the Esseles to escape, the tractor beam holding them in place must be disabled. The heroes are tasked with taking a shuttle to the battlecruiser, shutting down the power from within, and returning. Before leaving, First Officer Haken mentions that the Imperials are after Ambassador Asara, who will also be going with the heroes. He mentions that if you leave Ambassador Asara on the battlecruiser to be kidnapped, the Imperials would have no more reason to pursue the craft and their trip to Courscant would be assured.

Disable the Tractor Beam

The heroes board the battlecruiser, leaving behind a small team of soldiers and Ambassador Asara behind to guard the ship and await your return after shutting down the power. The heroes must then venture through the battlecruiser, fighting more Imperial troops and droids. Progressively harder boss droids must be fought both before and after the terminals are activated that shut down the tractor beam, Grand Moff Kilran will become progessively more irritated with the heroes success as the group progresses.

The Sith Apprentice

Once the tractor beam has been disabled and the heroes return to the shuttle, they find that Vokk has attacked the remaining party, killing the troops and nearly killing Ambassador Asara. The heroes must then battle and defeat the Sith apprentice, earning a special Codex entry upon defeating him. Ambassador Asara wakes up and informs the Heroes that its time to return to the Esseles. The heroes are then given the choice to return with Ambassador Asara (Light Side) or leave her behind (Dark Side).

Darkside +150 – for leaving Ambassador Asara behind

Lightside +150 – for not leaving Ambassador Asara behind

The flashpoint takes a slightly different path depending on the Light Side or Dark Side choice made.

[Light Side] No One Left Behind

The Heroes return to the Esseles where First Officer Haken commends the heroes on their victory. Ambassador Asara then arrives to congratulate the heroes, with First Officer Haken surprised that the heroes did not leave her behind. The ship then continues on its journey to Coruscant.

[Dark Side] Leaving the Ambassador

The heroes leave Ambassador Asara on the battlecruiser before returning to the Esseles where First Officer Haken commends them on their victory. The ship then continues on its journey to Courscant.

Achievement: Titles

  • The Uncomprising [Returning with Asara]
  • The Backstabber [Leaving Asara behind]

Achievement: Lore

There are two known lore objects that can be unlocked during this Flashpont.

  • Wanderer-class Transport - This is unlocked by a selecting a terminal on board the Esseles, located in the same room as secondary conduit B. It is fairly obvious and simple to find.
  • Harrower-class Dreadnaught - This is unlocked by selecting a computer terminal in a bay on board the Imperial ship. It is not clearly visible. In the room where you speak to the hologram of Grand Moff Kilran, there is an alcove guarded by an elite driod. At the back of the alcove, behind a bank of computers, is the terminal.
