- "Some are driven to follow in their parents’ footsteps, while others loathe the very concept. For Theron Shan, it’s a moot point. In keeping with Jedi strictures against attachment, Theron’s mother, Grand Master Satele Shan, sent her infant son to be raised by the Jedi who trained her, Master Ngani Zho. Over time, as it became evident that Theron was not Force sensitive like his mother, he abandoned any notion of becoming a Jedi. Eventually, he joined the Strategic Information Service, using his adventurous nature and unique skillset to become a trusted field agent for the Republic."
- ―In-game Codex (Persons of Note)
Theron Shan was a Human male who served the Galactic Republic as a field agent for the Republic Strategic Information Service during the Cold War against the Sith Empire. Born to Satele Shan and Jace Malcom, Theron was only aware of his mother throughout childhood, and considered Ngani Zho, the man who raised him, as his father. He was removed from Jedi training after no trace of Force-sensitivity was detected within him, and instead sought employment in the SIS as a field agent.
Grand Master and Republic Trooper
Theron was born to two very influential people in the Republic: Republic trooper Jace Malcom and Jedi Master Satele Shan. The two developed a romantic relationship at the end of the Battle of Alderaan, and managed to keep a six-month affair secret while mopping-up actions continued after the battle. Satele eventually left Malcolm, fearing that his ruthless actions to hunt down remaining Imperials would cause him to go down a path to the dark side.
While his homeworld is unknown, Shan, along with Master Ngani Zho, managed to hide Theron's birth from the Jedi Order, at which point Satele gave him to Zho to raise. Shan returned to the Order while Zho brought up Theron by usual Jedi standards. Unfortunately, it was determined that Theron was not Force-sensitive after all, and so was drummed out of the Order. Still wanting to serve the Republic, he was recruited into the Republic Strategic Information Service and would carry out several covert operations as a field agent.
Having been separated from Zho since leaving the Order, Theron was assigned through SIS to locate Zho in order to gain more insight into the Empire. Reuniting on Taris, Zho recounted a battle he had with Dark Council member Darth Mekhis, but were ambushed by Mekhis's apprentices and were forced to leave the planet. Circumstances led to the two, along with a Twi'lek criminal Teff'ith, to head to the Vesla system with the hopes of stopping Mekhis from constructing new technology. Upon arriving in the system Shan discovered that the new technology, dubbed the Sun Razer was capable of producing an unlimited supply of super weapons, Shan and his companions then resolved to destroy the Sun Razer. The mission ended with the death of both Zho and Mekhis, but her plans to construct more super weapons to use against the Republic were foiled.
Order of Revan
Shan helped coordinate an assault on the Sith homeworld of Korriban during the Second Great Galactic War in the hopes of gaining intelligence to use against the Empire. But despite a successful operation, the Jedi homeworld Tython was attacked by the Empire at almost the same time. After repelling the invasion, Shan began suspecting treachery from within the Republic ranks, but investigations turned up short. After a while, he finally came into contact with Sith Lord Lana Beniko, who suspected the same thing in Imperial ranks. Investigations took them both to Manaan, where it was discovered that several officials, Republic and Empire both, had defected to the Order of Revan and were developing technology to destroy both factions.
A successful operation on Lehon dissipated the Revanites somewhat, but due to the unsanctioned actions of both Shan and Beniko, both were removed from Republic and Imperial ranks and were branded rogue. The two coordinated operatives to Rishi, where they used pirate and gang covers to attack Revanite holdings and gain information into their plans. Unfortunately, Shan was captured by the Revanites and tortured by Revan, who implored Theron to join him on Yavin 4 to help remake the galaxy. Theron broke out and was escorted from Revanite capture, but after Revan himself caught onto what was happening, he drew both Republic and Imperial command fleets into a battle over Rishi. Shan directed forces to shut down a planetary jamming field and end the conflict, and then helped the joint forces coordinate attacks on Revanite on Yavin 4, where Revan had said that he would act next.
After decimating Revanite forces, the joint forces including Shan, his mother Satele, Beniko, Darth Marr and Shae Vizla confronted and stopped Revan from unleashing a ritual to consume all life on Yavin 4. After the operation's success, he was reinstated in the SIS.
