Star Wars: The Old Republic fans have been going crazy over the internet over the course of the last day, after BioWare and EA released the lineup for their upcoming E3 conference, which will be held in Los Angeles, CA on Monday, June 15th. The pages of script pertaining to announcements and other content scheduled for the conference included this tidbit about SWTOR, and was the first thing to make fans wonder what might be revealed on Monday.
- "Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ – The largest story-driven expansion to date, Knights of the Fallen Empire, marks a renewed focus on cinematic storytelling in Star Wars: The Old Republic. The expansion will deliver on the hallmarks of what makes a great BioWare™ game: new worlds to explore, new companions to recruit, and a dynamic story that players will be able to shape based on the choices they make."
It's been confirmed: the new expansion will be called Knights of the Fallen Empire. It makes sense on some level to release a new expansion, what with BioWare releasing all sorts of teasers over the past number of months. From the secret image file on the Star Wars Celebraiton thumb drives to the devs dropping hints about a new secret being released on June 15, a new expansion or new content was guarentee to be in the works. Chances are high that this content will not be released by Patch 3.3, expected in later June, but it most certainly bears watching.
That was, until, SWTOR's Facebook and Twitter accounts posted these images.
The last time that SWTOR fans were given a new CGI trailer to watch based on upcoming content was in 2012, back when HK-51 was being released as an in-game companion. Both images hint at a new CGI SWTOR-related trailer for the upcoming expansion, and based upon the look of the images, it's sure to surround a large battle and a sacrifice of some kind.
Keep in mind that this expansion most likely has nothing to do with the previous Rise of the Emperor patch. Such content was added as an epilouge to the Shadow of Revan and Forged Alliances storyline, beginning with the Tython and Korriban flashpoints. This seems like something else entirely.
