Thanks

Yeah, the new skin looks good, could never work out how to change anything like that lol.

One question. Although I managed to change the homepage from Star Wars: The Old Republic to Star Wars: The Old Republic Wiki the wiki still remains under the first name, in places such as the search bar saying "Search Star Wars: The Old Republic" rather than "Search Star Wars: The Old Republic Wiki" and places like at the top of the editing pages where it says "Check out Help:Editing and Star Wars: The Old Republic's Manual of Style for more information on how to edit wiki pages.". Can this be changed? Or... ░▒▓ Alex | Talk ▓▒░ 10:39, April 13, 2010 (UTC)

Administrative Rights

Thank you for giving me rollback rights, I'm glad that you've seen my edits are productive to the wiki. I am not as experienced as a wiki editor as I may seem, just a semi-frequent contributor to wiki's when I see a need. At this point of time I don't see a need for administrative rights. I can't promise any significant amount of time to editing this wiki and am not currently being restricted by common user rights. If I feel like I start to fill a good niche in the wiki here after more time that may be something that I would consider. But for the time being I am just a Old Republic fan looking to help out the games community. Patricklent 00:31, June 24, 2010 (UTC)

Project Page

Do you have any idea how we can change articles like the Manual of Style to Project pages like other Wikia have, so instead of reading "Article" at the top it reads "Project Page". I see that guild pages have been changed so it says "guild" instead of "article". Thanks Alexsau1991 (Talk page) 20px 22:28, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

Okay; thanks! (sorry forgot to sign) Alexsau1991 (Talk page) 20px 22:40, July 5, 2010 (UTC)
And cheers! They need more information on most of them; that's something I can work on in time. I'm hoping more articles might attract more users and persuade them to do more serious editing. I was pleased to know that I can use the same images from Wookipedia with out having to upload them here, saved allot of time lol. Alexsau1991 (Talk page) 20px 22:40, July 5, 2010 (UTC)
I'm trying not to copy to much from Wookiepedia, but yeah I will do that on anypage with information from Wookipedia on it. I believe I already have, so far. Alexsau1991 (Talk page) 20px 22:45, July 5, 2010 (UTC)
Apart from the page with the most info from Wookiepedia on it apparently. Sorry. Alexsau1991 (Talk page) 20px 22:48, July 5, 2010 (UTC)

Also, I was wondering if when you had some free time you could make an infobox for the various swtor "media", ie: Books, comics, cinematic trailers and the game its self. So, if possible, we can have it so that it can be used by the various media, with the option of leaving non applicable ones blank so they wont appear, if you see what I mean. To include information like: Media type, Developer, Author, Publisher, Cover artist, Release date, Timeline, Genre, Rating, Platform; stuff like that. Thanks, get back to me if and when you have the time. Alexsau1991 (Talk page) 20px 00:32, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, for letting me know. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 19:52, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

Achievements

Yeah, sounds like a good idea. No objections from me. Will there be a page/article explaining it all; like the Red-Dead wiki one?. Alexsau1991 (Talk page) 20px 22:13, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

Cool! Let me know when its done, thanks. Alexsau1991 (Talk page) 20px 22:15, July 6, 2010 (UTC)
I know; I created the signature for Wookiepedia where the background is white, and unfortunatly changing it for one changes it for all lol. But I think I'll change the colour back to default. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 22:27, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I was thinking that they wern't looking very Star Warsy. What sort of changes can be made to the images and the names? How many awards are there currently? Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 22:41, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

Ah.. I see; thanks. I think if we come up for names for them then sorting out subtitle images will then be easier. Bioware have provided a "fan site kit" which includes various images that could be used for some of the awards. Especially the Republic/Empire logo's. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 23:24, July 6, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, good names; better than anything I was thinking :). Can you add them in. I'll give some thought of pictures to go with them? Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 20:48, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

Wookieepedia admins and editors

Decently sounds like a good way to get more, decent editors onto this wiki; Can you do the talking? As well as Fodigg do you have anyone else in mind? Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 00:04, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

Template for image upload, information.

I was just wondering if there was any chance if we could have a template for the upload information to go in whilst uploading images, like this one. There's no rush. Could you let me know if you can't though. Thanks. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 17:14, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

Hehe, I was actually the one that came up with the template style used throughout the project. I'd happily volunteer to work on this, Ausir, if you think there's a need; I like to think I'm pretty good with template design.
Additionally, I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on the changes I made to the Planet Template. I tried to get input via a User Blog before I pushed the changes live, but no one commented. You can now see the changed template on any planet article, but it would be easy to change back. That said, if the style is appreciated I could begin changing the rest of our infoboxes to match. -- Heaven's Agent 17:43, July 19, 2010 (UTC)

SWTOR Wiki vs TORWiki

My use of TORWiki in the image policy policy article I'm authoring was made on purpose; I really think we need to consider switching from the original abbreviation of SWTOR Wiki.

'Star Wars: The Old Republic Wiki' is a mouthful. It's unnecessarily lengthy and the abbreviation, to be frank, is more difficult to remember than it should be; most successful game wikis have short, snappy names, i.e. WoWWiki, EQ2i. We could decide to go with a name lacking the abreviation, but even then we need something short, as does Wookeepedia and Memory Alpha.

The game's community has adopted the abbreviation TOR for the game; why are we attempting to deviate from this? Is there any practical reason for doing so? If we're going to use a game abbreviation in this project's name, let's use the one the game's community has accepted. It's that community we have to relate to, if we want to be a successful wiki project. -- Heaven's Agent 20:21, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

Sounds fair to me; real quick, is there any benefit to keeping the space in the sitename? It tends to break up the visual, and several other major wiki projects seem to avoid it. -- Heaven's Agent 20:54, July 22, 2010 (UTC)
Was I not to be asked about this before any changed were made? Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 21:03, July 22, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry, I showed HA's message to someone at Wikia and they changed it right away, even though I actually wanted to discuss it first. Ausir(talk) 21:05, July 22, 2010 (UTC)
I'm do prefer the project pages as TORWiki but I did prefer the name of the Wiki as Star Wars: The Old Republic Wiki, but since I got emails earlier I guess the shorter name does have its benefits. I would leave it as it is at the moment. Thanks. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 19:47, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Image buttons

Well the species, classes and planets image buttons could do with being replaced, I'm not quite sure what happened to the quality when I uploaded them; the faction images are good as they are. I think we should think about adding buttons for the locations and characters of the game and perhaps ether a single link to a list of media or specific buttons to the comics, timelines, trailers books etc. What do you think? Once we've made the decision I will make the buttons, and I will remake the current three we have. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 19:47, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Re: Dutch Language Translations

That's news to me; I was a part of this project well before you, and support of other-language projects in such a manner is something that was not discussed at that point. Also news to me is the fact that this is "default" by Wikia standards; I have seen other projects do so, but this functionality is in no way a standard practice. In fact, like all other aspects of the Wikia network, it is an optional feature that we can chose to utilize or ignore as we see fit. As a feature available on the Wikia network, support of other-language projects, in this manner or in another, is something that we can discuss. That said, just as there are valid reasons to implement such functionality, there are also valid reasons not to.

I was asked to be an Admin on this project so that I could help things run smoothly. I removed the alternate-language links due to the fact that, as far as I am still aware, the functionality has yet to be discussed and there are various issues to be considered if we are to adopt it; as something that alters the core layout of the project's web-space, it's generally not something you want to allow any contributor to add. That said, there are valid benefits to be had, which is why I left the situation open for debate should anyone feel the need.

We all come from various backgrounds and levels of wiki experience. I did not seek an Administrator role on this project, it was something offered me; I ask that I be showed respect in matters pertaining to the project's management, just as I will continue to try to show the same respect to my fellow wiki staff members. -- Heaven's Agent 20:06, August 24, 2010 (UTC)

I removed what I felt was a poor addition to the project. Because they've been in place for months has no bearing in the matter; a case of vandalism or span, for example, should be deleted even if it's gone overlooked for a similar span of time.
My greatest concern about utilizing the automated multi-language tools is that they make it appear as if we've verified the safety and content of such pages for our users. These are other, separate projects we're talking about here. We have no control over their content, their quality, or the scope of their articles. We should not include functionality that makes it seem as if we do; the built-in tools do just that.
It's our responsibility to ensure external links are well-labeled, relevant, and do not lead to harmful web pages. The built-in tools don't even look like external links - someone new to Wikia may easily think they lead to parts of this project; I thought this was the case the first time I saw them on the network. Additionally, unless we have an Admin both capable and willing to monitor the content on these projects constantly, we can neither verify their validity nor their safety.
It's important we support these other projects, but I feel the built-in tools are a poor way to this. They can potentially deceive visitors and, ultimately, it is impossible to manage their content in addition to our own, even if we had the right to do so. Perhaps we can add links to such projects to our main menu. Under the Community heading, or under a new heading altogether, perhaps? -- Heaven's Agent 21:41, August 24, 2010 (UTC)
To channel the discussion somewhat I created a blog article. - Drudenfusz 2:45 (UTC), August 28, 2010

German SWTOR Wiki

Good to hear, I will start working there then. Was so far not very encouraged, because I was not sure who can help me if I do investing work there. - Drudenfusz(talk) 22:01 (UTC), August 29, 2010

Looks like I have become admin (or even bureaucrat, I am not sure) for the German SWTOR Wiki but I have never been before an admin for a wiki, so I don't know how to change the overall layout. You said that you could help me with that? I would like if it looks more like the English wiki here, but it do not have to be identical (maybe another background picture). - Drudenfusz(talk) 09:34 (UTC), September 4, 2010
Thanks! After you changed the website I could see what you have done and that helped me to understand how to do it (and to figure out how to put another background in, have just to decide what I will use). - Drudenfusz(talk) 11:49 (UTC), September 4, 2010

Please UNBLOCK ME

Ausir, sir please unblock me on the vault because of that jerk kris blocked me wrongfully please unblock me ausir sincerely fryingpan57 thank you for the vault the most complete fallout guide the net will have sir im begging you please unblock me and maybe have a stern talk with that kris on sending messages before blocking people

Thanks

I have already seen that you have nominated me for admin, and I appreciate that! I have a question about the shared upload for pictures works in both directions? So that the pictures I upload there will be available here too? It's because that's the direction I work at moment, first the German article than updating the article here. - Drudenfusz(talk) 21:11 (UTC), September 10, 2010

I support the nomination. Can I suggest we get a Requests for user rights page, and let every active member give there yes/no vote there? If not, as long as Heaven's Agent agrees to making him an admin as well then it can just be done. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 12:59, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
I support the nomination as well. Drudenfusz has demonstrated dedication to the project and considerable talent that will be an asset to our work here. -- Heaven's Agent 06:50, September 13, 2010 (UTC)
Nice! And thanks that you recognize my efforts. There is a thing that I would like to do as admin, but I think I should ask you guys first. I would like to change Planets to Worlds. I know that it might some work to hunt all the links and such things, but I would do that. Why I want that? With Nar Shaddaa on the list it feels wrong (and maybe Yavin IV might join some day) to call it planets. I don't think that we have to call the category the same way BioWare does on their website, they will surely not call Nar Shaddaa in game also a planet. - Drudenfusz(talk) 13:49 (UTC), September 13, 2010

Wookieepedia friend

Cool! The votes do look good, I believe we need at least 10 votes in support (and a majority) within 2 weeks to get made an official friend. The last yes vote we got was on the 15th (2 days ago) so I'm hoping that other potential supporters know it is there. I am eligible to vote but I was concerned not to, due to conflict of interest, unless my vote was necessary in getting the support consensus. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 16:57, September 17, 2010 (UTC)

I have not enough edits there yet to vote, but maybe I will work there next week somewhat if it is necessary to get the votes. - Drudenfusz(talk) 17:28 (UTC), September 17, 2010
We now have 7 votes, including a Wookiepedia Administrator, we should have our 10+ votes (with no opposition, hopefully) by the deadline. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 22:14, September 19, 2010 (UTC)
Its good that we have got support from an administrator and bureaucrat especially since, after looking at the talk page, there hasn't been a successful nomination in over 2 years. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 22:51, September 19, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, and it will be good to get some of those enthusiastic editors to edit over here in the correct place rather than there with there edits being reverted. I think the fact that we already link almost every article back to Wookieepedia has also generated good reasons for the support of the nomination. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 23:06, September 19, 2010 (UTC)

I agree, displaying general TOR Wiki news would be a good idea; we can post Drudenfusz adminship whenever and the Wookiepedia thing as soon as we become an official friend, assuming we do become an official friend. How do you want to implement it? Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 21:44, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

Had a look and it looks to be a good way of doing it. Can you do the first one, which can say about Drudenfusz's adminship, Wookieepeda freind and the general fact that we are now doing these internal TOR Wiki news digests. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 22:28, September 21, 2010 (UTC)
Great! We made it! Six more days of voting now. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 22:34, September 22, 2010 (UTC)
Very unlikely. Looking at the archives there don't seem to be any with mixed voting, ie unanimous ether way; all those who were successful received a unanimous vote, and those denied received every vote but the nominators opposing it. It does say "Two-week deadline from first request, voting ends no later than September 28, 2010" so we could request that the voting ends before the 28th; since there consensus policy says "if the votes overwhelmingly support one option, the thread may be closed early" which is what has been achieved. Portals

I notice that on Fallout Wiki you have portals with the same parameters as the homepage and I was wondering if we could have that here so that we can have separate portals for Knights of the Old Republic whilst keeping the homepage for TOR only. swtor event

Sorry I have been meaning to start a blog giving my impressions on the game, but I've got a deadline looming this friday so i've not found the time yet. I do break up for easter holidays at the end of the week so I'll post all my thoughts and impressions on Saturday. But yeah, it was great. Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 08:32, April 12, 2011 (UTC)

Mass vandalism - spamming

Someone from posing as an admin from Mass Effect wiki has spammed 95 articles here with a photograph and a message. It appears he did the same on Dragon Age wiki, is their a way for all articles to be reverted or must it be done manually? Alexsau1991 (talk page) 20px 09:16, April 25, 2011 (UTC)
